Book design

Project led by : Metahaven
2019
Perdre sa vie à la gagner is an experiment by the first year MA students Space and Communication Design together with Metahaven.
Perdre sa vie à la gagner is a documentation following a cadavre exquis style and the exploration of perception of time. The content represents a visual documentation of time passing by as well as the process of creation of the book. In order to achieve a rolling factory work shift system, the experiment was conducted in 3 shifts of 8 hours, covering the day, the swing and the night shift, over a period of 24 continuous hours in the same studio with a limited access to materials. The observations conducted vary in their intensity and theory depending on the 3 different teams created in the context of the experiment, resulting in different notions of photography, distortion and time.
